Tender writing is a process where companies will create a response to a request for tender. The response is a detailed description of the project and what services the tendering company offer can offer to complete it.

Writing a tender response is just like writing a job application, only this time you’re trying to get a whole company hired and ‘proficient in Microsoft suite’ won’t cut it. Fortunate for you, we know how you can write a tender response following these 6 simple steps:

  1. Thoroughly read the Request for Tender documents relating to the project.
  2. Ensure your business is capable of completing the project
  3. Research the company or government agency that has requested the tender
  4. Plan your tender response, which includes develop a marketing pitch, or a point of difference, that sets your company apart from others.
  5. Draft your tender response and ensure it meets all the specifications identified in the Request for Tender documents; and
  6. Submit your tender response more than 1 day prior to the closing date, in case there are issues submitting the documents.

GRANTS

If you are looking to apply for a government grant and would like to write the application yourself, the following 6 steps will help you navigate the process:

  1. Make sure your organisation is eligible to apply and meets the required criteria;
  2. Research the cost of the project you are seeking the grant for (if applicable);
  3. Consider how an award of the grant would benefit the local community and your organisation;
  4. Make sure you have the resources to manage the grant and proposed project if the grant is awarded.
  5. Prepare the application and ensure all supporting documents are included;
  6. Submit your grant application more than 1 day prior to the closing date in case there are any issues submitting the documents.

PROPOSALS

A business proposal is a document that outlines the product or service being offered, the terms and conditions of that offer, the company behind it and the person submitting the offer. It may also include details like pricing information, product photos and other ancillary materials that supports the offer. A general overview of information to include include in a business proposal is as follows:

  1. Executive summary of your business
  2. Statement of the problem the proposal intends to address
  3. Approach and methodology your business will use to address the problem
  4. Your qualifications/qualifications of your business
  5. Schedule of works and benchmarks to measure the progress of the proposed offer
  6. Cost, payment terms and legal issues associated with the implementation of the proposed offer
  7. The benefits of the proposed offer
  8. Summary of all of the above and why the party you are providing the proposal to should accept.
